Adrian's comments on being sent down...

T.R. Sullivan today writes about the Nix/Gonzalez swap, and seems to be a tad confused about the rapid switch...

He's not the only one. Adrian Gonzalez had the following to say about his demotion:

"I don't know where I stand," Gonzalez said. "I thought they were going to give me a shot to be the DH. Now, they're telling me they need Nix here and I'm the guy with options."

This seems to be a recurring theme lately with young players in this organization, although that may be attributable to Buck's tendency to play headgames with players. From what I've seen, he seems to be one of those managers who thinks that he'll get the most out of his players if they have some uncertainty about their place with the team acting as a motivator.

Along those lines, Buck had this to say about Kevin Mench...

"If Kevin does well, he can play every day," manager Buck Showalter said. "This is one of the things that this creates. It's up to Kevin."

One would have thought that Mench's performance last year would have earned him the starting spot...
