Various and sundry thoughts for today...

A few things, as the Rangers come back home on a one-game winning streak...

Kevin Sherrington today wonders if the Rangers are really in "win now" mode, or if they are just sort of drifting...

There are some cryptic remarks from Mark Teixeira and Mike Young in the DMN today...

"We're coming home with a whole new team," first baseman Mark Teixeira said.

Said shortstop Michael Young: "There were a lot of player moves and a lot of things that definitely sprung up on us. But it's not my responsibility to make those moves. I know we lost a key part of our club [Drese] and we're going to have to find a way to fill that hole."

These were also the two guys who were pretty vocal about the front office not doing anything this past offseason...

Finally, T.R. Sullivan has a note in the S-T today, about Marshall McDougall sticking on the roster because his presence allows Buck to put Soriano (or one of the other infielders) at DH from time to time, start Mark DeRosa, and have McDougall available on the bench to play in the field if he pinch-hits for DeRosa late in the game.

Here's my question, though...given that McDougall is better than DeRosa, why not let McDougall start in the first place?
