A few morning comments...

John Hudgins got shelled last night, giving up 8 runs in 2 1/3 IP...

ERA now above 5...ugh. Hopefully, this is just a rough stretch, and not a sign that he's plateaued.

Wasdin goes tonight, in C.J. Wilson's old rotation spot, followed by Kenny Rogers and Chris Young on Saturday and Sunday. The Rangers are apparently talking about sending Ricardo Rodriguez back down to the minors over the weekend, but if they make a move, they need to do it today, since they'll need a 5th starter again on July 18, and once RicRod is optioned, he can't be recalled for 10 days.

In the DMN today, it is suggested that MLB, which pretty clearly wants to avoid having Kenny Rogers at the ASG on Tuesday, might be willing to reduce the suspension in exchange for Rogers agreeing to step out of the ASG. That would be very nice, from a Rangers fan perspective...

The Adam Dunn trade rumors continue to swirl, although the Rangers don't seem interested in him. As I've said before, I'd give up a lot to get Adam Dunn to Texas.

Meanwhile, in Rangers-as-sellers news, the Cubs have sent centerfielder Corey Patterson down to AAA. The Cubs are currently running with an outfield of Todd Hollandsworth, Jerry Hairston, Jr., and Jeromy Burnitz, with Todd Walker manning second base.

Given Patterson's struggles, and the lack of offense they are getting from their outfield (and, really, anyone besides Derrek Lee and Amaris Ramirez), Soriano to the Cubs seems to make more and more sense every day...

Finally...I'm grouchy about baseball today, what with the Rangers' falling out of the race, Hudgins struggling, even Vince Sinisi going hitless a couple of days in a row. But one can always take solace in the fact that Royals fans have it worse...
