Per T.R. Sullivan, Adam Eaton signs a one year, $4.65 million deal, thus avoiding arbitration.
Sullivan also reports that the Teixeira contract is $6.4 million for 2005, $9 million for 2006, rather than the $6 million/2005 and $9.4 million/2006 numbers reported by the DMN.
Again, right around where I expected Eaton to end up, and he'll be a free agent at the end of the season.
The 2006 contract number is low enough that, unless Eaton completely craters in 2006, the Rangers will be able to offer him arbitration at the end of the 2006 season (assuming he doesn't sign an extension between now and then) without much risk. If he leaves, the Rangers will likely get a first rounder, and if he accepts arbitration, they are on the hook for a one year deal at $6-7 million, which isn't prohibitive.
