The Mets have traded Kris Benson to the Orioles for Jorge Julio and John Maine.
Wow. All things considered, a nice return for the Mets, for a guy they gave up a bundle for a year and a half ago, and overpaid to lock up with a three year deal. They didn't getting nearly as much from the Orioles as they gave up to get Benson in the first place, but they got more than he's probably really worth.
Julio is a nice arm for the pen, while Maine is a decent prospect, albeit someone who may be settling in as a AAAA pitcher rather than a future major leaguer.
Anyway...I'm glad the Rangers didn't get him, even though I would have been happy to have Anna Benson around.
