I think the consensus is that keeping GMJ is going to require a three year deal. The rub is, how much per year over those three years is it going to take to get him signed?
I've seen anywhere from $5 million per year to $9 million per year suggested. $5 million per year, I'd do, but I think some other team is going to be willing to pay him more.
At $9 million per year for three years, though, I'd wish GMJ well, make Freddy Guzman my opening day centerfielder, and put that money towards either someone like Bonds or Sheffield, or a starting pitcher.
But anyway, I'm curious about y'all's thoughts...on a three year contract, how high are you willing to go to keep GMJ in Texas?
