Revisiting community projections -- Mark Teixeira

At the beginning of the season, we did projections of how we thought Mark Teixeira would perform.

There were a total of 29 guesses, which averaged out to a line of .303/.385/.590.

We were expecting big things of Mark Teixeira...unfortunately, because of his first-half slump, he disappointed, hitting only .282/.371/.514.

The walk rate was about right, and the average was pretty close, but we were way off on the slugging percentage...although it is worth noting that his second half line of .291/.394/.604 -- which, I would argue, is probably more indicative of his actual ability than his overall 2006 line -- is very close to our projections.
