Ken Rosenthal has his thoughts on the Matsuzaka saga, and the much rumored BoSox bid (supposedly in the $38-45 million range).
Rosenthal has one exec saying that the Red Sox could not come up with that much cash within 35 days (as required by the posting process), and suggests that the real motive behind Boston making a blockbuster post would be to just keep Matsuzaka from getting to the Yankees.
Which, of course, would open the door for Scott Boras to argue that Boston bid in bad faith, and that Matsuzaka should be made a free agent...
Personally, I still have my doubts about the validity of those reports -- although Bust Olney seems pretty confident it is true.
