The Padres made their second weird deal in a week today, sending outfielder Ben Johnson to the Mets, along with veteran righty reliever Jon Adkins, for relievers Heath Bell and Royce Ring.
Adkins for Bell seems to be pretty much a wash, which means the Padres gave up a pretty decent young outfielder in Ben Johnson for a middling relief prospect in Royce Ring.
I don't really get this deal, from the Padres' standpoint. Nice pickup for the Mets.
