Astros land Jason Jennings

The Astros have traded for Jason Jennings, getting him and Miguel Ascencio from the Rockies for Jason Hirsh, Taylor Buchholz and Willy Taveras.

Wow. Big price there, paid by the Astros, for a guy who is one year away from his walk year, and who seems inclined to test out free agency. Two top pitching prospects, and an elite defensive centerfielder who doesn't hit that much.

Colorado has wanted a guy who can cover a ton of ground in Coors for some time, so getting Taveras makes a lot of sense, and they get two quality pitching prospects who are under team control for years to come, as well.

Nice haul by the Rockies.
