Wow...had heard some rumblings about this, but didn't think it would actually happen...
But the Braves have non-tendered Marcus Giles.
Giles, the younger brother of Padre outfielder Brian Giles, appeared to be an up-and-coming future star a few years ago, but has been nagged by injuries, and the Braves apparently didn't want to be on the hook for the $5 million or so Giles was going to get in arbitration.
I'm a little surprised someone didn't trade for him from the Braves, and do the one year deal.
I have to think that the San Diego Padres, who have a gaping hole at second with Josh Barfield having been sent to Cleveland, will end up signing Giles.
