SI.com's John Heyman is reporting an agreement between Daisuke Matsuzaka and the Boston Red Sox for six years and $52 million. That's less than I thought he would get, although Heyman does say there are eight million in escalator clauses. It's not a surprise that this is getting done, but the Red Sox are looking pretty good here if this is correct. Also, you would think that Boras' sights will shift to getting something accomplished with Zito now.
In other Japanese player transfer news, the D-Rays only have one additional day (Friday) to come to an agreement with 3B Akinori Iwamura, but according to the St. Pete Times, they're getting close as well.
