Another update from T.R. Sullivan...
Among other stuff, says it sounds like Piazza is heading for Oakland on a two year deal, and Padilla's deal with the Rangers is stuck on whether it will be 3 years or 4...
On Piazza, if the Rangers really want him, I've got to think that a two year deal shouldn't be an obstacle...unless he completely tanks, you could flip him after 2007, when he's got just a season left...
And with Padilla, I'm expecting to see the announcement be that it is a four year deal, but with a voidable year based on innings pitched, much like Kevin Millwood (whose 5 year contract is, essentially, a 4 year deal with a vestable option...the difference is just semantics, but semantics is oftentimes a big deal for ego reasons...)
