Sullivan with an update, and of particular note is the Rangers being encouraged by the way Frankie Francisco is throwing right now, and the feeling that the Rangers are going to back off on their recent trend of aggressively promoting young players who haven't yet mastered the level they are at.
That makes sense...personally, I'd think you'd want to err on the side of having a player a level too low, than a level too high...
Ken Rosenthal has some more stuff, including the news that the market for Eric Gagne is "intensifying," and that Gagne wants to go to a team that will let him resume closing immediately.
Rosenthal also says that things are "abuzz" over what the Rangers' offer to Barry Zito will be...somehow, I get the feeling that there's a lot more huge offer smoke than fire, on that front...
An item out of Boston has the Rangers in on Gagne, but I'm calling b.s. on that...I don't see how there'd be much interest in Gagne by the Rangers, given their situation...
