Thursday a.m. things

Relatively speaking, things are quiet this morning, after the flurry of news the past few days...

Kat O'Brien has a piece on Ron Washington, and his sense of confidence about this Rangers team.

The L.A. Times says that the Angels could try to acquire Mark Teixeira to fill their need for a middle-of-the-order bat.

I wouldn't hold my breath there, if I were an Angel fan...

The Phillies are apparently willing to move Jon Lieber, and have talked to the Brewers about either Derrick Turnbow or Kevin Mench, but the Inquirer is saying that the Phillies have cooled on those guys. Texas is mentioned as a team that "could have interest" in Lieber, if the Rangers can't land Zito.

Joel Sherman says that the Rangers have been after Aaron Rowand, but I'm beginning to believe that that isn't going to happen, given the Phillies demands.

On the story floating around about the Mets offering Lastings Milledge as part of a package for an Oakland starter, the New York Daily News says it is Danny Haren that the Mets are after.
