Jason Marquis to the Cubs

Jason Marquis has reportedly agreed to a three year deal with the Cubs, for either $20 million or $28 million (probably the former).

Not bad, for a guy coming off a season where he had a 6.02 ERA.

Marquis was actually pretty good for the Cards in 2004 and 2005, although his peripherals weren't strong, and he appears to have really benefitted from a quality defense behind him.

In 2006, though, his K rate went down, his walk and homer rates went up, and he pretty much just sucked.

I'm not sure why anyone would give Marquis a three year deal for $20 million or $28 million or any two digit million number, for that matter.
