Just saw a news flash from Jamey Newberg indicating that the Rangers have sent LHP Clint Brannon to the Cubs to complete the trade for Jon Leicester.
Brannon was a 34th round pick in 2004 who generated some buzz when he posted an 0.59 ERA in Spokane. He was promoted to high-A Bakersfield for the 2005 season, and was fairly mediocre there, posting a 4.45 ERA while splitting time between the rotation and the bullpen.
He's 23 and lefthanded, so he's got a little bit of value, but this doesn't seem to be a loss of much consequence for the Rangers.
