Kat O'Brien looks at the positional battles going on with the Rangers...

She confirms that Ian Kinsler is the second baseman, and has the 5th starter competition narrowed down to Juan Dominguez, Edinson Volquez, and R.A. Dickey, with Dickey apparently something of a long shot. My opinion on this matter is pretty clear, I think.

O'Brien also says that C.J. Wilson and Antonio Alfonseca are "closing in" on bullpen jobs, which would leave just one spot available in the bullpen. O'Brien lists six possible candidates for that last bullpen spot, although Fabio Castro, Erasmo Ramirez and John Wasdin would seem to be the three legitimate candidates.

O'Brien also says that the Rangers like what they've seen from D'Angelo Jimenez, and he seems to have a decent shot to make the team.

The Washington Post has a story on the Soriano situation, with a few more details about what went on yesterday, but the basic storyline is still the same...the Nationals want Soriano to play left field, and Soriano ain't having it.

Jan Hubbard has a piece on Jason Botts, who we'll hopefully be saying later on this season at DH.
