A few Easter thoughts

A few random thoughts this evening, as I'm preparing to return home to Houston in the morning...

I'm a Kameron Loe fan. I don't think he's ever going to be a top-of-the-rotation starter, but I think he's exactly the sort of solid starting pitcher that has been missing from the Rangers' farm system the last decade or so, the type of pitcher the Rangers need to be producing if they want to be competitive year-in and year-out.

The offense is awful right now, but I'm encouraged by the fact that Teixeira, Young and Blalock are all hitting right now. If those three have solid seasons, the rest will end up falling into place.

Robinson Tejeda finally had a good outing for the Redhawks today. The Rangers only need a #5 starter once between now and May 2, so Tejeda will probably stay in AAA for a while, but I am hopeful he'll have earned the start when May 2 rolls around.

Vince Sinisi's start is encouraging, but I'd feel a lot better if he would mix in a double or a homer every now and then.

T.R. Sullivan says Drew Meyer may get the call if Mark DeRosa has to go on the d.l. with his ankle problem. My initial reaction when I saw that was, why wouldn't Marshall McDougall get tapped, but McDougall is apparently having more problems with his wrist.

I'll say this...if Meyer ends up getting called up, I wouldn't be surprised if he ends up sticking on the 25 man roster the rest of the way. Given the makeup of this roster, he is exactly the type of player the Rangers need at the end of their bench, even though I'd rather see him (from a developmental standpoint) play a full season in AAA as the Redhawk centerfielder.

It wouldn't shock me if Adam Eaton never throws a pitch as a Ranger.

This has been a pretty wretched start to the season, and yet, the Rangers are just 1.5 games out of first place.

That's not bad...
