Shouse traded

Just saw a newsflash from Jamey Newberg, saying that the Rangers have traded Brian Shouse to the Milwaukee Brewers for Enrique Cruz and a PTBNL.

Cruz is a fringe prospect, a middle infielder who doesn't really hit. You can see his career minor league numbers here, and his numbers for 2006 here.

Minorleaguebaseball.com shows him as being on the Frisco roster, where I'm guessing he'll replace Casey Benjamin as the starting shorstop.

Cruz was a Rule 5 selection by the Brewers from the Mets who spent the entire 2003 season in the majors. He's only 24, but he doesn't look like anything more than a possible future utility infielder, although he hit a little in AA last year.

I'm not sure what the story is on him, speed-wise...he stole a bunch of bases early in his minor league career, but last year, was just 4 for 8 on the year in Huntsville.
