Thursday morning things

Two disappointing, close losses last night. Bah.

At least the Mavs still have two more chances to close it out, and the Rangers are still in first place, albeit tied for first.

Evan Grant has a piece on Kam Loe's struggles in the middle innings. The thinking is that, after the first couple of times through the order, teams are able to get a bead on Loe and hit the ball, given his reliance on the sinker. Loe suggests that he may have to work on his pitch selection in these situations...

In the bullpen, Grant says that the Rangers aren't switching back to Francisco Cordero as closer, and Antonio Alfonseca may be headed for the disabled list with elbow problems.

Kat O'Brien says that Ian Kinsler is "day to day," in terms of his return to the club, and that he'll be playing second base when he comes back. Buck apparently wants to keep Kinsler at one position, and let Mark DeRosa move around and handle different positions.

O'Brien also says that, as expected, the Rangers released Erubiel Durazo.

And T.R. Sullivan has a piece on Hank Blalock's hot start, highlighting his solid performance both on the road and against lefties so far this year...
