T.R. Sullivan has a new mailbag column up...and his response to the first question, about why Rod Barajas continues to start rather than Gerald Laird, is sure to interest some folks. It sounds like it was ghostwritten by Buck.
Ken Daley has some notes up, as well. He says that Shouse no longer fits in the Rangers plans because of the "emergence" of C.J. Wilson, although I'm still at a loss as to how much Wilson has really emerged thusfar.
The Wilson issue, incidentally, is also addressed by Sullivan, who says:
If the Rangers are going to have a championship bullpen, Wilson would have to be a huge piece to it.
Again, I don't get it.
Daley also notes that Robinson Tejeda showed some tact in his response to being sent down:
"I was a little bit surprised," said Tejeda, who is 1-1 with a 9.00 ERA after two starts. "I was thinking they were going to send down that rookie (infielder Drew Meyer)."
I'm sure "that rookie" appreciated that comment...
Finally, Daley says that Ian Kinsler went 2 for 3 today while DHing for the spring team, and will play in the field tomorrow before going to Oklahoma Wednesday or Thursday to start a rehab assignment.
With the "red hot" Mark DeRosa now 2 for his last 15, hopefully Kinsler is making a speedy recovery.
