Rosenthal on Grimsley and MLB

Ken Rosenthal talks about the dynamics of the Grimsley suspension, and its possible impact on CBA discussions...

I remember, when a certain shortstop signed a contract with the Rangers, dire predictions about how that would end up shutting down baseball, that that one contract would end up galvanizing owners and the union to the point that a season being cancelled would be inevitable. Never happened, of course...

However, the Grimsley situation, and how MLB and ownership is reacting to it, could end up leading to some real ugliness when it comes time to talk about the CBA later this year...while I don't think Jason Grimsley will be responsible for a season being cancelled, I do think some of the fallout from this, and some of MLB's subsequent demands of the union, could cause some major labor problems...
