Monday morning Rangers stuff

Well, the Rangers are back in second place, a game behind the A's.

In today's S-T, Kat O'Brien points out that the offense is largely to blame for the Rangers failure to take over what has been a pretty weak division this year. O'Brien points out that the Rangers are middle-of-the-pack in most offensive categories, a bad sign for a team that plays half its games at TBIA.

After that huge game Thursday that raised hopes, Mark Teixeira, Hank Blalock, and Michael Young all went 1 for 11, while Brad Wilkerson, who appeared to be busting out of his slump, went hitless in his two other games.

Buck Showalter says that Adam Eaton will start July 25 against the Yankees. The Rangers are going to have a better idea by then whether they are going to be buyers or sellers...and if they end up being sellers, Eaton will get two starts before the trade deadline, which, given the paucity of starting pitching options in the trade market, may be sufficient to allow the Rangers to get something decent for him.
