Boston has signed Josh Beckett to a 3 year, $30 million contract extension.
Beckett would have been a free agent after 2007...given that he's probably about a $7-8 million guy in arbitration next year, the BoSox paid about $22 million to buy out his first two free agent years.
Pretty solid signing by the BoSox...I'm not a huge Beckett guy, but given his age and upside, plus the investment (in terms of talent given up) that the BoSox made in him, I think this is a reasonable deal for them...
