Some stuff

Evan Grant touches on Edinson Volquez's issues at the DMN blog. And speaking of Volquez, you might want to check out Volquez's AAA splits this year. They are pretty fascinating...and while he clearly needs to cut down on the walks, allowing opponent's to hit just .100 off of him for the month of June is pretty remarkable.

Christina Kahrl has a chat session up at BP, and says she likes what the Rangers did at the deadline, and isn't counting them out of the race. Their new Hit List is up, with the Rangers coming in at #9, and their Playoff Odds Report, as of this morning, gave the Rangers a 24.8% chance of making the playoffs.

Keith Law says that the Matt Stairs trade was about the only one where the Royals didn't get anything of value, which I guess is a good thing for Texas.

And T.R. Sullivan has some notes up...he says despite Buck's refusal to come out and say anything one way or the other about the starting catching job, it appears that Gerald Laird has (finally) moved into the job (although he also has Buck assuring everyone that Rod Barajas will start tomorrow).

And Kam Loe is doing another rehab outing tonight, after which a decision will be made as to whether he's gotten back to being effective enough to activate. Still no word on whether he'd be a starter or a reliever, but I'm guessing he'll be in the pen.
