Bah. A nice little streak here, and yet the Rangers are still in third place, still 3.5 back of Oakland. The Rangers need to win today, and take at least 2 of 3 in Oakland next week.
Evan Grant says Brad Wilkerson will hold off on having shoulder surgery until the season is decided. So if the Rangers fall out of the race, I guess he'll have surgery then, but otherwise, he'll gut it out until the season is over.
Grant also says that Tom Hicks says that the Rangers are going to have the financial wherewithal to sign whichever of their free agents they decide they want to keep.
Grant says that Carlos Lee is at the top of the priority list...obviously, I hope he is mistaken there.
Chris Davis and Doug Mathis have been named the Rangers' minor league player of the month and pitcher of the month. zywica points out in a diary to the right that Davis had yet another home run today, and is dominating the Northwest League's power categories.
Kat O'Brien reports that several Rangers players are clamoring for the Rangers to pick up Eric Young, who was let go by the Padres to make room for Todd Walker. Adding Young would probably mean letting JHJ go, but I don't know that that would be a significant loss.
