Liriano done for the year, maybe until 2008

Bad, bad news for the Minnesota Twins...

Rookie sensation Francisco Liriano left his start today in the third inning with elbow pain, and reported feeling a "pop" with his last two pitches.

He apparently had an MRI, and there are fears that he's going to have to undergo Tommy John surgery, which would mean he'd like miss all of 2007.

He had a strained ligament early in August that sidelined him for about a month, and this was his first start since being activated from the d.l.

Really tough break for one of the best young pitchers in baseball.
