Lots of little things of note

If you didn't see anything about last night's Padres/Dodgers game, check out the play-by-play, and in particular, the last two innings...incredible game, particularly in the midst of a pennant race...

T.R. Sullivan has a new mailbag column up, which includes some stuff on JMJ, Kiker, Rheinecker, and Volquez along with the obligatory "let's trade Mark Teixeira!!!" question.

There is also a weird defense of Hank Blalock's performance, in which the argument that he's been a solid player is based around the fact that he's had at least 86 RBIs every season from 2003-05.

I thought he was gone, but apparently not yet...Gerry Fraley with a new "Just Venting" column, which includes a whipping of Tom Hicks and Buck Showalter, and a chastisement of Jon Daniels which features this item:

Daniels traded Alfonso Soriano without getting pitching help, and he whiffed in both directions on left-hander Fabio Castro.

Nevermind the Soriano/pitching issue, which has been belabored already...I don't see how Daniels whiffed "in both directions" on Fabio Castro. Yes, Esteban German has had a nice year as a part-time player in Kansas City, but I'd rather have Daniel Haigwood than German right now.

Will Carroll has a new chat session up...nothing specifically Rangers related, but a lot of interesting topics covered nonetheless...

The new Prospectus Hit List is up, with the Rangers checking in at #11...

While Jeff Brantley may be leaving ESPN, Peter Gammons is apparently returning, making his re-appearance on BBTN tomorrow...
