We'll be hearing about one year deals on contracts over the next few weeks, as arb-eligible players settle with their teams.
I saw a headline the other day that said that some team was able to "retain" a player because they agreed to a one year deal.
Except it was a player who was not eligible for free agency and who had been offered arbitration, which meant they were going to retain the player whether they agreed on a contract or not.
Semantics, I guess, but it irritated me because I felt it was misleading.
Anyway...the point is, there have been some deals agreed to.
Dontrelle Willis has agreed to a 1 year, $6.45 million deal with the Marlins.
Mike Lamb agreed to a 1 year, $2.7 million deal with the Astros.
Jason Michaels has agreed to a 2 year, $4.25 million deal with the Indians.
And Jose Valverde agreed to a 1 year, $2 million deal with the D-Backs.
