The Detroit Tigers have picked up Pudge Rodriguez's 2008 option. The option was for $13 million, with the Tigers having the right to buy it out for $3 million.
Pudge was not good this year -- hitting .281/.294/.420 on the season -- but the market for catchers is so barren this offseason, the Tigers figured that paying $10 million to bring Pudge back was better than giving a multi-year deal to Paul LoDuca or seeing if a Molina can be found.
