Cooling on Mike Cameron

My interest in Mike Cameron has dropped a little bit...

Not because of the stimulant suspension, but because of what he's apparently looking for, salary-wise...

Last April, the Padres and Cameron broke off negotiations on a multiyear deal; the Padres were agreeable to a two-year, $20 million pact but were unwilling to guarantee Cameron about $36 million over three years.

"Take one-sixth of $12 million, because he'll basically miss one-sixth of the season, and best-case scenario, he cost himself $2 million," an agent said.

$12 million per year for three years for Cameron? That's steep...

And it also has me thinking that the market for Torii Hunter and Aaron Rowand may be more expensive than we are expecting, as well...

I suggested in the chat session with Will Carroll at BP that Hunter was looking at 6 years, $100 million (which is what Carlos Lee got). I figured that sounded about right because 5 years, $75 million was the number that was being bandied about, and after last season, I figure an extra year and a few million more per season need to be tacked on to what we "expect" a player to get, to arrive at the actual final price...
