Evan Grant has early word of some talk that seems to be going on around the Rangers, with Hank Blalock and the two catchers, Gerald Laird and Jarrod Saltalamacchia, key topics of conversation.
I'm on the record as preferring that Saltalamacchia get the catching job, but if his value is so great that you can just clean up, I guess I'd listen. But if Laird can fetch something of value, that really seems like the way to go to me. Once again, the worst decision, in my opinion, is to keep both and move Saltalamacchia full time to first base.
Also, the last note in the column is bad news. Prospect Jacob Brigham is apparently headed for Tommy John surgery.
