In case you are like me and were a little slow to notice the relation, Walbeck was hired for his first big league coaching job and named Baseball America's Minor League Manager of the Year yesterday. It looks like he's built quite a resume in just four years of managing, taking all of his teams to the playoffs and winning manager of the year in his league the last two seasons.
He's taking the popular Don Wakamatsu's place on the staff, and, in reading these articles, his dealings with players seems to be one of his strengths.
