Friday morning things

Another slow day today. Very little out there of note right now. So we're going to get a little OT, I think...

Adam Green takes a humorous look at what Sammy Sosa will do in 2007...

T.R. Sullivan has his Friday Morning Happy Hour blog post up, with a lot of Sammy Sosa and save-related stuff...

Alvin Robertson has been arrested. You young'uns probably don't know who he is, but Robertson was a weirdly terrific off guard for the Spurs and Bucks in the late 80s and early 90s. Terrific defensive player, had some personal issues, and recorded a quadruple-double (one of only four NBA players ever to do so) when he had double-figure points, rebounds, assists, and steals against the Suns. And I may be mis-remembering, but I seem to recall that he came within a couple of blocks of a quintuple double in that game...if anyone can link the box score in the comments, that would be nice...

Bill Simmons has a column up that includes a fair amount about Gil Brandt and his reputation among radio folks these days, although he refers to Brandt as the Cowboys' g.m. who built the Cowboy dynasty back in the day. Tex Schramm, as any Cowboy fan knows, was the g.m., and Brandt director of player personnel.

And I'm a little bit curious...how is it that the Mavericks have a better record than Phoenix, Phoenix has three All-Stars to the Mavs' one, and yet the Maverick All-Star -- Dirk Nowitzki -- is somehow a less worthy choice as MVP than one of the three Sun All-Stars, Steve Nash?
