S-T with a Tom Hicks Q&A

New, comments

The S-T has a Q&A session with Tom Hicks up. Sounds somewhat optimistic about extending Michael Young, says that a Mark Teixeira extension is something that would be discussed farther down the line.

We also have this bit, about the fan reaction to Sammy Sosa:

Q: What kind of reaction have you been getting from fans?

A: Very positive. They like Sammy. They want him to make a comeback. I don't think the fans were ready for Sammy to quit playing baseball.

This reminds me of George Lucas, a month or two after "The Phantom Menace" came out, proclaiming that people loved Jar-Jar Binks, but whatever.

I also though this exchange, on Sosa, was a bit revealing:

Q: What do you hope for in terms of production?

A: Depends on if I'm talking to Rudy or talking to Jon Daniels. Jon's a lot more realistic. I think Rudy -- he tells me that it still sounds different than when other people hit the ball. He's got the bat speed. I think we'll know a lot more by the end of March.
