Young contract extension just about done

Evan Grant reports that the Rangers are close to finalizing a deal with Michael Young that would give him a 5 year, $80 million extension that would run through the 2013 season.

It would include a no-trade clause for all but a short window of time in 2011.

It is too much money for too long, but at the same time, it is what the Rangers have to pay to extend him. This would take Young through his age 36 season.

Update [2007-3-1 12:17:36 by Adam J. Morris]: -- Deal is now reported as being done. I'm sure there will be a press conference later on today.
