Monday morning things

A week away from Opening Day, and things are starting to firm up, as far as the roster goes, although it we do still have the 5th starter/long man drama going on...

I hit on the issue of Kam Loe, Jamey Wright, and the 5th starter situation last night, and Dave Sessions has a piece on it in the S-T this morning, saying that Wright still has the inside track, but that Loe is a possibility. Richard Durrett says Wright should be the 5th starter, and Loe should go to the bullpen.

Gil LeBreton has a column on Loe, as well, touching on the mixed messages that have been coming out as to whether a decision has been reached, and saying that Loe deserves the job.

I said all I have to say about that last night, so I'm not going to re-hash everything again...

I would like to know, though, why Loe getting the #5 starter job means losing Wright. Why not put Wright in the bullpen as the long man? The organization may feel that he can't pitch effectively out of the pen, but I haven't heard anything indicating that yet...

Kevin Sherrington has a column up on the Rangers, although I'm not entirely sure what it is about...it seems to be a collection of observations, really...

Sessions' spring report includes C.J. Wilson's list of his top 5 game shows...

And finally, on the heels of an email exchange between an LSB poster and a Denver columnist, it is now being reported that the Rangers have no interest in Byung-hyun Kim, although they are still interested in Clint Barmes. However...

But according to a major-league source, the Rockies continue to seek starting-shortstop value for Barmes, and that's putting a crimp in the Rockies' ability to trade him.

Yeah, good luck with that...
