10 games under .500 now. And just 4.5 games out of third place...

Ron Washington says the changed approach at the plate is starting to pay dividends, with the Rangers doing a better job of working the pitchers. We'll see...every time it has seemed like the offense was starting to turn the corner this year, they'd get no hit or shut out or something.

Evan Grant also says that Ramon Vazquez is expected to be dropped from the 25 man roster to make room for John Koronka, who is getting the start today. No word on who would then replace Koronka after today's start...the Rangers won't need a 5th starter against until May 29, so I'm assuming Koronka will get sent back down before tomorrow...

We talked about the Hank Blalock injury yesterday, and Evan Grant has some more info today. Travis Metcalf has been added to the roster, replacing Blalock on the 25 and 40 man roster (with Blalock going immediately to the 60 day d.l.). According to Thad Levine, there was nothing out there available via trade that would have been a meaningful upgrade, and the organization believes that Metcalf definitely has a major league ready glove...it is just a question of whether he'll continue to hit...

Metcalf and Kevin Mahar both being up here is interesting...both came on the scene with big 2005 seasons at Bakersfield, and then both regressed a bit last year at Frisco. Coming into the season, they were fringe prospects...and now, they are both on the 25 man roster...

Todd Wills' farm report is up, with the main item a feature on Frisco starter Doug Mathis. Also from Wills, John Lombardo says the Rangers are "elated" with the progress Johnny Whittleman and K.C. Herren are making, and Kasey Kiker is expected to make his first start for Clinton on Monday.
