The rainout yesterday has been rescheduled as part of a doubleheader on September 11, and the Rangers play their getaway game against the Tigers today.

The rainout means the 5th starter won't be needed until Monday, and the Rangers may be calling Brandon McCarthy up to make that start, rather than going with Willie Eyre again.

Evan Grant says Jim Leyland is going to choose between Michael Young, Akinori Otsuka, Eric Gagne, and Sammy Sosa for the Rangers' All-Star representative. Sosa going, of course, would be something of a joke...if a geriatric Ranger outfielder is going to be selected, it should be Kenny Lofton, who has been a much better player than Sosa this season.

Personally, I'd probably go with Otsuka as the Rangers representative.

Speaking of Sosa, if the Rangers want to boost his trade value while still getting a look now at Jason Botts, the easiest way to do that would seem to be to call up Botts now, send Victor Diaz to AAA, and let Botts DH the majority of the time, with Sosa and Catalanotto in a straight platoon in an outfield slot. Sosa hasn't hit righthanders well at all, and what little trade value he may have is going to be as a platoon player anyway.
