On the heels of Mike Hargrove's resignation (which was supposedly fueled, in part, by the team's reluctance to give him an extension because of conflict between him and Ichiro), the Mariners are about to sign Ichiro to a 5 year, $100 million extension.
That's a lot of money for a guy in his 30s whose game is based on speed.
