Nice win yesterday to avoid the sweep...and suddenly, the Rangers are just 4.5 games behind the tailspinning A's. Even if there's no chance of making the playoffs, it would be nice if the Rangers could avoid last place...

Seeing Teixeira hit that homer yesterday made me a little sad, though, because I know that I might not be seeing him hit too many more of those as a Ranger. Gil LeBreton says Teixeira's comments in Frisco last week simply served to burn some bridges before he's sent out...

The Akinori Otsuka watch continues...the Rangers "hope" he'll be available Tuesday, but he'll apparently be on the shelf again tonight...

In the minors, Chris Davis extended his hitting streak to 33 games with a 4th inning grand slam, his 21st homer of the season.

And in off-the-field controversy news, Kenny Lofton backed Gary Sheffield, who said that Joe Torre treats white players and black players on the Yankees differently. Lofton didn't have a real pleasant stint with the Yankees in 2004, and it sounds like the Yanks won't be one of the teams in the bidding for Lofton as the trade deadline approaches...
