I get back from lunch, and discover that Ken Rosenthal is reporting that the BoSox and Rangers have agreed on a deal for Eric Gagne, pending Gagne's waiving his no-trade clause.
Rosenthal says it is Kason Gabbard and something else.
Bleah to Gabbard, a 25 year old lefty who couldn't crack BA's top 30 prospects for the BoSox last season, and seems like another John Koronka to me.

He's supposedly a plus defensive centerfielder, and his numbers against righthanded pitchers this season in AAA have been pretty solid. He might be a useful tag-team partner for Marlon Byrd in center for 2008 or fourth outfielder. Might.
