As I sit here repeatedly doing Google News searches on various unsigned draftees, I came across this Murray Chass piece on the draft slotting system. This paragraph jumped out at me:

Most clubs have adhered to the slotting recommendations, and those that have say they are at a disadvantage to those that haven't. The Yankees, the Red Sox, the Tigers and the Rangers have been identified by others as teams that have most often exceeded the slotted figures.

The first three are obvious, but it is interesting to me that the Rangers got lumped in with them...
