You can't complain too much about a doubleheader split on the road against the Tiggers, although the silence of the bats in game 2 was disappointing. It was the "B team" lineup in game 2, though, and Jurrjens was pretty impressive. And the game 1 numbers speak for themselves, of course...
Jason Botts now with a 974 OPS in September. Again, though, disappointing that he was lifted in game 1 in the late innings, then sat in game 2.
Dave Sessions says Brandon McCarthy had no health issues yesterday...just problems with command and making his pitches. You'd liked to have seen something better from McCarthy, but given that it was originally going to be a simulated game, I don't think that the actual results from yesterday are that big of a deal one way or the other...
Richard Durrett says McCarthy will pitch again on Saturday, with Kevin Millwood coming back on short rest after his very abbreviated Sunday start to pitch Thursday, and Kason Gabbard starting Friday.
Durrett also says Hank Blalock may be back at third base at some point in the Oakland series.
