Monday morning things

Yay, a split. At home against Baltimore. Hey, it is something...

7 shutout innings from Kevin Millwood, to bring his ERA down to 5.16 for the season. He has to go at least 5 1/3 shutout innings against Seattle on Saturday, or 7 1/3 innings with one earned run allowed, to get his ERA below 5.00 for the season.

And good to see Joaquin Benoit and C.J. Wilson bounce back from shaky outings to nail down the win.

Evan Grant's game story focuses on Wilson's desire to be a closer, despite Ron Washington's public statements this week that the team needs to add a proven closer because Wilson and Benoit don't have the experience to close.

Grant also mentions that Brandon McCarthy is being scratched from his start tomorrow, with Jamey Wright getting the start instead.

Over in the S-T, Pete Alfano talks about the possibility of Barry Bonds coming to Texas. The Rangers keep coming up as a possible destination for Bonds, even though Tom Hicks supposedly nixed that idea last offseason.

And Torii Hunter is denying that he's leaning towards signing with Texas:

Contrary to what has been reported in Texas, Hunter said he doesn't favor going to the Rangers because he lives nearby.

"That's what they say, but I don't favor Texas," he said. "My family doesn't even favor Texas, but we're just going to kind of wait and see."
