Some things from around Ted Stevens' series of tubes...

Keith Law is doing a chat session at ESPN, with a few Rangers questions and some Michael Main love...

Mike Hindman also has some Michael Main love, with his prospect previews for the top five Ranger outfield prospects going up and Main checking in at #4 (behind only Engel Beltre, Julio Borbon, and Brandon Boggs)...

Evan Grant's #10 Ranger prospect is Omar Poveda, who I know also gets a lot of love around here...

The Transaction Oracle runs down a list of things that are better ideas that signing Juan Gonzalez...

The Oracle also doesn't understand why Jason Jennings would sign with the Rangers...

Dumpmaster D is annoyed that the Cubs are pursuing Brian Roberts, since that means he'd be a utility guy...

Christina Kahrl agrees with me on Marlon Byrd:

However, it's also worth noting that last season's breakout was the product of some pretty unusual spikes in his BABIP and his line-drive rate--if you don't believe me, go get Dan Fox's cool BIP Chart tool, it's the freebie that keeps on giving--which suggests that Byrd's going to see his numbers drop pretty steeply. He'll still be useful enough, but he's essentially irrelevant to the organization achieving a better Rangers ballclub at some point in the future.

To reiterate, if the Cubs (or some other team) want to give up something halfway decent for Marlon Byrd, pull the trigger...

And FJM takes issue with Dan Shaughnessy...
