T.R. Sullivan says that the Rangers are close to hiring some of their coaching staff, but the pitching coach situation is still up in the air, with the Rangers apparently wanting to talk to Brewers coach Mike Maddux.
The Rangers being similar to the Rays? Kevin Sherrington says that's crap:
If it makes you feel any better, Mr. Silverman noted similarities between Mr. Friedman and the Rangers' general manager, Jon Daniels. Both are young, bright and dedicated. Both have committed to building from within.
Both benefit from veteran minds onsite: Nolan Ryan with the Rangers; for the Rays, former Houston Astros general manager Gerry Hunsicker as well as Don Zimmer, baseball's resident leprechaun.
Unfortunately, all similarities end there. Offhand, the Rangers' biggest advantage seems to be in toilets.
An Astros blogger says the Astros should trade Ty Wigginton to Texas for Taylor Teagarden. Yeah, I don't see that happening...
