OT: something that really grinds my shorts about statistics

1

The story is about how Mississippi passed New Mexico and Texas for the highest teen birth rate in 2006. The thing that I hate is that the rate is for girls ages 15 through 19. It seems to me that a pregnant 19-year-old isn't the same thing as a pregnant 15-year-old. Looping in ages 18 and 19 probably really boosts the number for shock value, especially since a couple that gets married right after high school and conceives a baby on the honeymoon will have a "teen birth."
