Happy birthday to Pat Putnam, who turns 56 today.
Putnam was the Rangers first round draft choice in 1975, a first baseman whose 18 homers as a rookie in 1979 stood as the most for a rookie in team history for some time.
Putnam never had as many as 18 homers again as a Ranger, and prior to the 1983 season, was dealt to the Seattle Mariners (during a team when it seemed like half of the team's trades were with the M's) to make way for Pete O'Brien.
